The Local Museum in Koenigs Wusterhausen

On the terrain of the former estate, opposite the palace is the Local Museum in a historical building situated.


The building, originally a half-timbered construction, fell victim to fires several times.


In the year 1869, the house got a royal chamber and through the still preserved cellar its present look.

It served, until the year 1876, as home for the royal forester and was later owned by Miss Marie Stappenbeck, who set up a school for young ladies.

In the following decades, some rebuilding was done. at GDR-times, the local Stasi Centre had its seat here. After the reunification, the library used this building until October 1995.

On the 4th of Mai 1996, the Local Museum was opened in this historical building by the Heimatverein Königs Wusterhausen 1990 e.V..
